Storm Shelters
Procedures for using the District’s FEMA Shelter
In a continuous effort to protect our students and staff and to provide support to our community, the school district has two FEMA Storm Shelters. After school hours, the FEMA 1 building, located by the football field, is available to our community members.
Shelter doors will automatically unlock when the National Weather Service issues a Tornado Warning. It’s important to note that the shelter does not open for Tornado Watches or Severe Thunderstorm Warnings.
For the safety and hygiene of all occupants, pets are not permitted inside the FEMA shelter.
The shelter is not opened to the public during school hours to ensure the security and safety of our students and staff.
We appreciate your cooperation in following these guidelines to ensure that the FEMA shelter can serve its purpose effectively when needed.
