CMS Agriculture Program Awarded $500 Grant from MO Retired Teachers Association & Foundation

Cassville Middle School (CMS) agriculture teacher, Mrs. McKenzie Brashers, has been awarded a $500 grant from the Missouri Retired Teachers Association and Foundation (MRTA). The grant is one of only 84 funded out of 595 applications statewide.
With this grant, Brashers has purchased supplies to help middle school students explore how small engines operate. The hands-on program introduces students to mechanical concepts, sparking interest they can continue building on in high school.
“We appreciate the support from MRTA,” said Brashers. “I have watched many students spark a new interest that they haven't thought about before and I am excited to watch that continue to grow as they move up into high school and eventually out into the workforce.”
This program not only enhances students’ understanding of agricultural mechanics but also encourages career exploration in skilled trades and technical fields. By providing engaging, hands-on opportunities, CMS continues to support innovative learning that prepares students for future success.
“Mrs. Brashers’ commitment to hands-on, innovative learning truly embodies what we strive for at CMS—helping students explore new passions and prepare for lifelong success,” said Mrs. Samantha Cosper, CMS Principal. “We are incredibly proud of Mrs. Brashers and thankful to MRTA for supporting our students. Opportunities like this help our middle schoolers discover new interests and build valuable skills for their future.”
MRTA represents more than 113,000 retired education employees across Missouri and has over 30,000 active members. The organization’s grant program recognizes outstanding educators who work to improve the learning environment and provide exceptional support services in Missouri schools.
